Amnesiac Moon Child
Chapter One – Memories.
I awoke in a state of bliss. As I cracked an eye open, I was stunned by a powerful light source. The Sun. Suddenly, the bliss disappeared, to be replaced by a sense of fear. Looking around, I tried to recognize my surrounding. It was midday, and I was on a grassy knoll. No signs of civilization present. Searching for the answer inside my head, I was thrown off my mental balance. My memories, they were just a blank. Nothing, I still knew what a human was, and that I was one, and other facts similar to that. Everything else was blank. Who am I? The thought popped into my head like a balloon. Taking an unnatural time, I quickly studied myself. I was approximately five feet and eight inches tall. Long black hair covered most of my face, and my skin was pale white. I wore a dark trench coat, with dear skin pants beneath it. Around my neck was the most quizzical thing of all, a pendant was fastening tightly to my neck. This pendant was shiny, like silver, and carried an odd looking stone within itself. Gathering myself together, I stood up, ready to reawaken my memories.
From what I remember, I walked in a daze for two days. I was searching for someone, anyone. Exhausted, and starving, I fell to the ground. I could have sworn I heard someone screaming as my body hit the ground, but it wouldn’t have been the first time my memory did something unexpected. My vision swirled into different colors, and my senses dulled. I lost touch with the world.
What seemed like instantly, I awoke. My senses were brain was instantly filled with pleasurable senses. Good, my brain couldn’t afford to lose another function. As I sat up, hot pain shot through my upper back. My left hand flew to the spot, and I felt a makeshift bandage. What had happened to me? Looking about, I realized I was in a house. There were many paintings on the walls. I was lying on a cot, and the room was rather small. An unfamiliar voice echoed from another room “Oh my dear, are you awake? “ I was relieved that I was no longer alone. The floorboards creaking like a falling tree as a slender old lady walked into my presence. “I am Marla, I saw you collapse up the trail. What is your name my dear? “
The words came out my mouth truthfully “I…I don’t know...”
“Well that will have to change, now won’t it? “ The old woman let out a hearty laugh. I forced a smile, she was very friendly. It seemed as if my troubles would be solved.
